Bachelor of Art in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University
Graduated with honors
ExperienceI graduated university cum laude with two degrees.
I enjoy the challenge of teaching and am rewarded by the light I see in a student's eyes when a connection is made.
I have authored and presented several research studies in developmental psychology, I have taught at SoHo Summer Camp (ages 5-9) in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, I volunteer for Literature for All of Us, a not for profit literacy advocate group that hosts book clubs and poetry writing classes for teens, I am a published artist, curator, and entrepreneur that participates regularly in collaborative projects with other artists, writers, actors, curators, charities, and community organizers. Please contact me if further references are needed.
My method of teaching takes into consideration Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence - the idea that there are different types of intelligence. Our system of schooling does not reward all types, and my goal is to recognize the way in which each student learns in order to better teach them strategies to harness the strengths in their learning process and apply them to standardized testing (the most common evaluation of student performance). My methodology does not encourage mere memorization of facts. Rather, It allows for knowledge to be absorbed richly, and the student is able to communicate their knowledge more effectively.
HobbiesI enjoy all methods of expressing one's self from cooking to dancing to swinging a baseball bat. I am a mother of a 9 year old boy and self employed as a fine art consultant. I exhibit my art work regularly, publish my writing when I can, and continue to conduct art and psychology research.
